Immediate Change in Western's
Elementary Education Program Admissions/application Process
The
Elementary Education main campus program at Western Washington
University in Bellingham has implemented an
immediate
change to the application process
that requires the essay portion be written in a proctored
setting. Three opportunities will be offered each quarter on
Western's Bellingham campus for applicants to meet this
requirement. Check the Elementary Education website at http://www.wce.wwu.edu/Depts/ELED/Admiss.shtml,
or Miller Hall 206 for specific dates, times, and locations.
We realize that some applicants may be unable to attend any of
these sessions. Those applicants may arrange with an advisor
or the testing center at their current college for a
personally administered essay. The advisor or other qualified
individual, should contact Gretchen.Anderson@wwu.edu
directly for details.
The dates arranged for fall quarter 2005 applicants to write
the essay at Western are April 7 at 8 a.m., April 9 at 11
a.m., and April 11 at 4 p.m. These will be held in Miller Hall
158. Students should bring pens with blue or black ink and are
allowed a dictionary. No other reference materials or
resources are allowed. It is hoped that students will submit
their other application materials to Teacher Education
Admissions prior to writing the essay so that, upon
completion, we can immediately match the essay with an
application file.
This change does not affect applications for Special Education
or Secondary Education. Those applicants should still submit a
pre-written essay with their application materials. This
change also does not affect applications to the elementary
education programs at off-campus sites in Seattle, Everett,
Oak Harbor, or Bremerton at this time.
